St. Timothy's is
blessed with a small but very fine music program. There are three
choirs.
ST.
TIMOTHY'S CHOIR (principal choir)
Our
principal choir is a semi-professional ensemble consists
of trained musicians who sing weekly between mid-September and Trinity
Sunday (which falls between mid-May and early June) This is our only
"vested choir" that wears formal choir robes, and typically sings two
anthems per service. On special occasions such as Christmas and Easter,
when we have many guests who may not know the music of the liturgy,
this choir sings a choral setting of the service in the English
Cathedral tradition. Anyone interested in this choir should contact the
minister of music, Michael Berman, and arrange for a simple audition.

THE
PARISH CHOIR (also known as the "summer choir")
Ever
thought of singing? Not good at reading music? Not able to make a long
term commitment? Overwhelmed by some of the music sung by the St.
Timothy's Choir?
Our all-volunteer parish choir, begin in 2008, just eliminated most of
your excuses! Simply show up an hour before service time in the choir
room. No experience necessary! An anthem is selected based on the skill
level of those that show up. This choir sings from the end of May
through the end of June, the first few weeks of September, Weekday
Lenten and Holy Week services, and occasional Sundays throughout the
year.
CHILDRENS
/ YOUTH CHOIR
Our
children's choir began in 2006, and sings several times each year,
rehearsing a few weeks in advance of services they sing. Larry Allen
presently directs this choir. times a year,
rehearsing a few weeks ahead of time during a portion of the Sunday
School hour.
SUMMER
SOLOISTS (both INSTRUMENTAL and VOCALISTS)
Every summer, in July and August, we welcome soloists to sing or
provide instrumental music during the Offertory.
Please contact Minister of Music Michael Berman for more information
about these opportunities.
ST.
TIMOTHY'S PIPE ORGAN
St.
Timothy's is blessed with a delightful pipe organ. Initially built
for a Baptist church in Illinois by the Wicks pipe organ company, it
was later rebuilt by John-Paul Buzard pipe organ builders of Champaign,
Illinois. When the Baptist congregation moved to a new building that
could not easily accommodate their pipe organ, St. Timothy's was able
to
purchase the organ and obtain the Buzard firm to relocate the organ to
Philadelphia. It was dedicated in 2006.
Choral music is provided for roughly 50 services each year.
