| Saint Timothy's offers many ways to get involved. From serving on the altar to planning parish dinners or teaching Sunday School, there is something for everyone to take part in. Do you like to sing? Join the choir and sing praises during service on Sunday. Want to get involved in foreign mission work? Learn more about and help Guatemala through our Companion Parish Program. All programs are open to newcomers. Below you will find a description of ministries that you can become involved in at St. Timothy’s. The main contact person is listed with e-mail where available. | Acolytes
: acolytes serve on the altar during worship services. Their duties vary from THURIFER (incense), to CRUCIFER (cross). Acolytes are instrumental in the preparation of the altar for the sacrament of Holy Communion. All acolytes receive training. Contact: Deacon Carl Knapp Altar & Flower Guild : the Altar & Flower Guild prepare the sanctuary for worship. This dedicated group is responsible for cleaning and caring for all linens and vestments, arrange the flowers for the altar and make sure that everything is just right for services. The group also sponsors an annual Flower Arranging Workshop in the fall. Contact: Mary Wood Bell Ringers : St. Timothy's is blessed with a bell tower full of bells. Each Sunday, a Bell Ringer climbs the stairs to the tower to ring songs beckoning people to church. You can learn more about the bells by clicking here. Contact: Neil Pierson Chalice Bearers : Chalice bearers are lay ministers (non-ordained people) who assist the priest and deacon with the administration of the wine of Holy Communion. All Chalice Bearers receive training. Contact: Deacon Carl Knapp Christian Education : Christian Education classes are offered on Sunday mornings beginning at 9:15am. Children and Youth classes are taught by volunteer lay-people and Adult Formation is taught by Deacon Carl Knapp. There is also a new book-study group that meets on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-8:30pm. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Children's Education: Jaqui Allen Youth Group: Pat Fitzsimmons Adult Education: Deacon Carl Knapp Book Study: Joe Fitzsimmons & Fr. Kirk Berlenbach Choir : St. Timothy's Choir sings praises during the 10:30am service every Sunday morning and for various special occasions throughout the year. The choir meets together before the service to practice their music. Contact: Michael Berman Fall Fest : Each year, St. Timothy's hosts a Fall Fest. The Parish Life Committee provides food, the Sunday School provides crafts for kids, the Youth Group holds a flea market, the Altar & Flower Guild sells flowers... There is live music and plenty of activities for the family. Contact: Church Office Lay Readers : Lay readers are responsible for reading aloud the First & Second Readings, the Psalm and the Prayers of the People during the worship service. Contact: Deacon Carl Knapp Organ Transplant Committee : This committee is responsible for the first capitol-campaign at Saint Timothy's in recent memory. In order to fund the replacing of Saint Timothy's old pipe-organ, this committee is dedicated to raising $55,000 before December 2007. To learn more about the Organ Transplant Campaign, click here. Throughout the year there are numerous opportunities to reach out into the world and help our brothers and sisters in Christ. Dinners, breakfasts and picnics are planned by Parish Life. They are always looking for help setting up and cleaning up for activities and for new committee members. Contact: Claire Morgan Stewardship : The Stewardship committee spends time together discussing and brainstorming new ways to make St. Timothy's an approachable, welcoming place for newcomers and also are responsible for encouraging members to support St. Timothy's financially throughout the year. |
